8 months and Charlie's First Christmas

Charlie likes his freedom.

Possibly our favorite baby item so far. Charlie seems to be very content in his Deuter backpack carrier and Mom, Dad and Mabel get to go for a hike.

We are currently in Maine spending time at my sister and brother-in-law's house for the holidays. My sister is suppose to have baby cousin for Charlie any day. Charlie had a very nice first Christmas. He got a tunnel with tent from Santa. His Pop and Nana got him a baby lap top that makes all kinds of fun noises and speaks Spanish. My Dad has decided to try to get the most annoying sound making toy for Charlie each year. Next year, drums. We are having fun with my family. Currently we are in the middle of a snow storm. My sister and I made a cross country ski trail in their yard via snow shoeing. Charlie got his first experience playing in the snow. Hopefully baby Straine will come before the New Year but if not I have already scheduled a trip to meet my first niece or nephew in February.

6 months

6 1/2 Months

Charlie has had an eventful month. He is sitting on his own.

Charlie finds Mabel hysterical especially when she rubs up next to him. The feeling is not mutual. David and I have decided that Mabel's opinion will change when Charlie starts feeding her, until then she will tolerate him.

Charlie is still learning how to eat, he likes peaches, avocado, sweet potatoes, pears, and bananas. I have been reading Super Baby Foods and like it.

Overall I like the book. For instance I cook a fruit or veggie, puree it and then freeze it in ice cube trays. Then you just pull out a cube for a meal. It is easy. I am not sure Charlie is ready for their "Super Porridge" (whole grain w/ supplements and fruit or veggie mixed in) I am sure I will try it out shortly. I have found celery at parties to be a good teething distraction.

The baby bag food is an amazing invention, especially for traveling or on-the-go. Even better is the spoon that attaches which Molly told me about. http://www.amazon.com/Plum-Organics-Dispensing-2-Count-Packages/dp/B003L4BV5U

We found a new way to keep Charlie content while we drive if he is fussy. Let him make a mess out of a bag of organic pears. The mess is totally worth a quiet drive home.

We went to Santa Barbara for a long weekend to visit David's family. David's Oma turned 85. Eileen and Hans let us stay in their beautiful home. We were able to take Charlie to the beach for the first time. Even though our time was short we did our best to spend some time with everyone.

David happy with his visit (Beer Tasting and Lunch) to Firestone Walker with Paul and Pam

Glad to have had David on this flight with me :) As well as a back end of a plane filled with parents and kids. Sorry to the one alone business guy, noise earphones might be in his future.

Charlie super excited about his new friend in Keri's belly. Babygirl Sykora and Charlie will be 1 year apart :) Charlie also thinks Keri is hysterical.

We have also been back to Ohio to celebrate Charlie's cousin Straine who should be making an appearance around Christmas.

My Mom came back with Charlie and I to help out, which has been awesome.
